Rodrigo Duterte for President of Philippines?

i will kill you

We have been reading about how Mayor Rodrigo Duterte helped clean up some of the crime in Davao by killing criminals or running them out of town.  There are some good, bad and ugly things about Presidential candidate Duterte.  The good is that he has decided to take action about crime and the street kids.  He rounded up the street kids, had them taken to shelters and ARRESTED the parents.  His very brutal methods have reduced crime in the Davao area.  Rodrigo Duterte is now running for president of the Philippines that promises to kill as many criminals as possible.

What do you think about it?

Filipino Women Flash Mob Bali

Like something out of the movie “Step UP Revolution”, a filipino women activist group infiltrated a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting being held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Indonesia and  expressed their disagreement with a flashmob dance.

And who coordinated this creative civil disobedience?  None other than Jean Enriquez, National Coordinator of the World March of Women (WMW).  She flew to Bali after her relief efforts to help those effected in Central Philippines by typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan.

“The [Philippine] government could not even coordinate its disaster response, it ought to focus on the recovery of our country instead of committing further to WTO,” — Enriquez.

The main theme was: “Climate Justice Now! End WTO.”

The prancing protesters believe that WTO is only interested in free trade and investments run on oil and not a more Earth friendly Low-Carbon Future.

Another filipina activist was there, Mary Ann Manahan, “The WTO is not interested in curbing emissions and shifting to low-carbon future, because free trade and investment run on OIL and other fossil fuels.”  Mary Ann is the Program Officer of Focus on the Global South.  Focus on the Global South’s purpose is to “challenge neoliberalism, militarism and corporate-driven globalisation while strengthening just and equitable alternatives” – See more at: http://focusweb.org/content/who-we-are#sthash.xZDCucjX.dpuf
