This is an interview with Junritchie and Mark. A very happy same sex couple who applied for the k1 fiance visa and got approved. They are now working on the green card process.
US law allows same sex couples to apply for the K1, fiance visa. Just like everyone else they have to make sure they have meet the basic requirements:
– Be single (divorce or widowed)
– Have met before in person (in the last 2 years)
The US citizen (or naturalized citizen) must also petition the foreign fiance using I-129f , Petition for Alien Fiancé(e). This application requires supporting documents.
Once the petition is approved, the case is sent to the US Embassy that is able to process visas that is closest to the foreign fiance (beneficiary). The beneficiary will have to gather certain document for the fiance visa interview with a US consular officer. Before this interview they will also need to go to a US Embassy approved medical center to have immunization shots.
Once the Visa is approved, they fiance can enter the US and get married in the US. The next step is to apply for the green card.
