Most of the philippines women are expected to care for her entire family often before she is fully an adult. It’s not uncommon for her to be a very young single mother with virtually no support from anyone including her own government.
Philippine’s women receive very little support from Philippine government. This lack of support has left them as poor single mothers trapped to fend for themselves in an overpopulated country. Men have no obligation to care for the children they help bring into the world. Since there is no law to force men to take responsibility for their kids financially, Philippine women are left with the full burden of the responsibility while the men often find another woman.
The Catholic church has a huge influence on the Philippine’s women. Women of the Philippine’s do not have a choice on whether or not they give birth. Abortion is illegal and strongly discouraged even for victims of rape and/or incest which happens a lot compared to many other developing countries.
The lack of guidance and support of the Philippine’s women has pushed many of them to seek work and relationships outside of the Philippines. Filipinas look for opportunities in other countries. They often work overseas to feed their kids. And usually they must support not only their kids but their entire family.
